On MSNBC's website, there is a link to "The Week in Pictures" and features photographs taken from all over the world. Some of them are phenomenal and make you wonder how the angle was achieved.

Aquarium animals

The first picture is of jelly fish. The picture of the swordfish was difficult because I tried to get it at an angle that showed the sword and also it's head-holes.

Faces and faces

These are patrons to a poetry night session. The center was dimlit, but I got a chance to photograph several people...some willing and others--not so much!

People...mugshots and smiles

Group Mug Shots
This picture was taken amongst a crowded group of people at a poetry/music event. These are just a few of the patrons who were caught off guard but were camera-ready!

People in the workplace

These are pictures of my co-workers. I lead a training challenging them to work in small groups and plan events like a bake sale and bachelorette party; despite different organizational working styles. These are some promotional/material from a couple of groups.

Mug Shots

The top photo is of a friend of mine Gary Thurman. It was taken using natural lighting. I didn't realize that the fencing went straight through his head until after I uploaded the photo : ( The middle and bottom photos are pictures of my sister. Flash was used in the middle photo, and the picture was taken below the subject. The bottom photo was taken at eye level without flash.

I feel like if you haven't been to class in a while, you just post pics to show Amy D. you're actually doing something. Or trying anyway. Top: Maddie Dieker plays outside the Alpha Phi house during a legacy tea party. Bottom: Tami Alexander listens as daughter Maddie explains what her bear Delilah has been up to that day.

Mug Shots

Emily Keimig, Freshman Music Theatre major, graciously allowed me to take photos of her. We tried a variety of places in the house with a few different lighting settings. The natural light ones always turned out better than the inside fluorescents. They look a little more like headshots than mug shots.

Mug Shots

Here are a couple of mugshots of my friend Matt. I really like the angle and the lighting of the first one, even though i wish the horizontal lines weren't in the background. Oh well. I like the second photo because of the background. I wish I would've gotten a little farther away from his face, but I still think it's a good picture.

Mug Shots

These mugshots are of my girlfriend, Madalynn.  This one is positioned slightly above her for a more interesting angle.

This picture was with flash and it kind of washed the picture out.

This is the exact same picture without flash and in my opinion looks much better.

Mugshots

With this mugshot I had him positioned below me looking up to give a different angle.

This mugshot I took at eye level outside to have some different background. This was my favorite of the mugshots because it looked natural.

With this mugshot he was positioned above me.

With this mugshot I was above him and used flash.

Brent Burrell, a 46 year old man who's body is showing wear from life's everyday long hours of hard work.

Dylan Atteberry, 23 was happy to stop for a few photographs. The first one is from a few shots I tried taking a different turn to the typical mug shot, the second shot was from the traditional shots.

Mug Shots

My sister was gracious enough to be my guinea pig. This shot was taken using natural lighting. I had her turn into the tree and shot from below. I think it works for this shot because it adds something to the photo rather than a straight on shot.

This photo was taken with natural lighting at a straight angle.

This photo was taken with natural lighting, with my sister crouching on the ground while I stayed standing and shot from above. I also had her turn her shoulder into the tree to provide an interesting angle to the shot. I like this one because she is turned in and it is taken from above. It gives it less of the mug shot feel and more of a personality to it.

Again, this shot was taken outside using natural lighting.

I did some inside shots as well as outside, but they didn't turn out very well. It was a lot harder to get the lighting right for the inside shots.
