A real old Groucho

This is one of the photos I'm using as a section cover in my book that will be out soon. This section is about people who have died, and I have a column about them in the book.

This is my grandmother, Marie, who lived to be about 101 1/2. As you can tell from this photo, she had a great sense of humor. I just wished I'd have had a cigar handy for her to hold.

She was a teetotaler, but I got her to drink a beer when she was in her late 90s. "Pretty good," she told me.

My mother and some of my aunts (she had seven daughters) were mad at me for letting/getting her to try alcohol for the first time. My grandfather would have loved it.
